Baku and beyond in two days.

Day one combines the Old City, Heydar Aliyev Center and a sunset above the bay. Day two goes outside Baku: Bibi-Heybat, Gobustan and the mud volcanoes, then Ateshgah and Yanardag if your driver and schedule allow.

Walking and city transport on day one; an agreed driver or organised full-day excursion on day two. The combined Gobustan–Absheron day is not a practical walking route.

Day two is long. For a slower trip choose either Gobustan or Absheron, leaving the other for another visit. Agree the exact sites and return journey before departure; venue access and traffic can change the order.

Gobustan's rock art connects a landscape of stone with the lives of people across many millennia.

  4. Ateshgah Fire Temple
