The Heydar Aliyev Center opened in two thousand and twelve. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, it is known for white surfaces that sweep between the building and the public grounds around it. The curves can make the boundary between architecture and landscape feel surprisingly fluid.

One view is rarely enough to understand the form. As you move around the exterior, the same surfaces seem to fold and change. Notice how the building meets the ground, as well as the outline against the sky. Exhibitions and visiting arrangements vary. Check the current programme if you would like to explore inside, and allow time for the exterior as part of the visit.
