Baku Museum of Modern Art

The Baku Museum of Modern Art focuses on modern and contemporary Azerbaijani art. Its collection includes painting and sculpture from the later twentieth century and beyond. The open display spaces invite you to notice how different works relate to one another.

Try following one colour, a shape or a subject across a few pieces, rather than feeling you must take in the whole collection at once. The museum can be paired with other stops in eastern Baku, though the distances are longer than inside the Old City. Check the current exhibitions and opening arrangements before travelling, and leave enough time to enjoy the art at your own pace.
