YARAT Contemporary Art Space brings a former naval building into the city's cultural life. Near the southern part of Baku's waterfront, it presents work by Azerbaijani and international artists in a setting with a character of its own.

The scale of the converted building can become part of an exhibition. Notice how artists use that space, rather than looking only at individual works. What you see depends on the current programme, so check the exhibitions before making the journey. This is farther along the waterfront than the Old City or the central Boulevard; plan the visit as a deliberate stop, with time to spend inside if access is available.
