The Boulevard along the Caspian Sea was laid out in 1909 and has grown to many kilometres. It is where the people of Baku walk in the evening.

The Caspian is the largest inland body of water on Earth. On windy days – Baku is called the "city of winds" – you can watch the waves along the promenade.

Baku Boulevard follows the curve of the Caspian shore. Also known as the Seaside National Park, it combines a waterfront promenade with gardens, cafes and views across the bay. The sea is the constant companion; the buildings around it change as you walk.

The Carpet Museum and Little Venice are useful landmarks along the southern part of the central promenade. Farther along, the waterfront continues well beyond what may seem like a short stroll on a map. Choose a stretch that suits your time and energy. Towards evening, the changing sky gives another view of the Flame Towers and the city's hillside.
